History
BYSA was established in 1986 as an initiative of Blacktown Migrant Resource Centre and Blacktown Skillshare Centre to provide a youth service for the area. BYSA became an Incorporated Association in 1988. From this time, BYSA has played a range of roles including hosting one-off projects and developing core projects within the constraint of a ‘project funded’ agency.
In 2008, the BYSA premises were refurbished by Blacktown City Council. The centre now boasts a purpose built group room, computer lab and fully-equipped creative media hub. Mayor Charlie Lowles officially opened the upgraded facilities on 19th November 2009.
Over the years of providing direct services to young people, BYSA has become the lead youth agency in Blacktown. BYSA continues to use best practice models to deliver innovative programs and build social capital within the Blacktown community.
